The Author
Sergei Itzam Coiot is a writer-artist from the Pacific Northwest. Besides The Bogs of Surrendered Names - which was a 2024 book selection by Indie British Columbia - she is the author of the forth coming dark fantasy series Aikia in Terreio. Previously published in the anthology New Voices ( Bemidji State University) and the journal Blood and Thunder: Musings on the Art of Medicine (University of Oklahoma), she writes, draws, paints and creates music. Sergei loves animals, cooking, walking along urban streets and in the rain forest, and creating worlds to get lost in. The goal in her work is to create relationship-driven stories with elements of magic woven into the plot. Her writing celebrates the weird and the quirks unique to all of us, and she loves to see all types of people and identities represented. Sergei is an author member of Alliance of Independent Authors and the Canadian Authors Association, and lives with her family in Vancouver, BC
“Working with Sergei Itzam Coiot on this captivating fantasy novel was a true pleasure. In The Bogs of Surrendered Names, Sergei has created vibrant, complex characters with intriguing histories who struggle against both external and internal forces in a richly imagined world. There is darkness here, but also more than one love story. Sergei’s storytelling talents will draw readers in. Once they enter the labyrinth of the Lethe, just like the hotel’s residents, they will be entranced.”
